Rights Assignment

1. My right is Privacy. The word privacy is not mentioned in the Bill of Rights. Amendment 4 is the closest to implying privacy which states: The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized. Also the courts have interpreted certain amendments protecting privacy in other areas. The First Amendment has been used to protect the right of individuals to associate with other people and groups without government intrusion. The Fifth Amendment upholds the right to refuse to testify against yourself in a criminal case. The Supreme Court of the United States has ruled that the Fourteenth Amendment protects privacy in certain matters relating to marriage, reproduction, health care, family relationships, and child rearing and education. State constitutions and laws also protect many of the same areas of personal privacy.

2. The reason why my right exists is so that we as a people have the right to ask to be protected if someone tries to harm our good name, enter our house, open our letters, or bother us or our family without a good reason. Also so we have the right to control the disclosure of personal information about ourselves. It also covers people's freedom to make their own decisions about their personal lives in case the government attempts to regulate our behavior.

3. What it means to exercise my right is not having any documents that have information about myself released to anyone without my consent. Also I have the right to say no to the government if they want to intrude in my house, or personal life without me giving them a reason to think that I might be a threat to someone else.

4.The limitations that exist on our right to privacy are the cameras that are placed inside and outside of schools, and the cameras that are on street corners. Also that you can go onto google earth and just look down on whoever you want whenever you want.

5. These limitations exist on our right to privacy because their are people in the world that want to do a lot of damage to other people, an example of this are terrorist. Also the government wants to know what we as a people are doing so they can try to keep crime down. But their are cases where the government violates our right to privacy just because they can.

6. If I had to give up this right, in return I would want homosexual people to have all the same rights as straight people. I would want the government to do something about all the poverty going on around the world. Also I would want the government to step in and help countries that are having civil wars, for example Darfur.

Inconvenient Truth Fact Check: 2

1.Have the 10 hottest years been in the last 14 years, and was 2005 the hottest year.

2. a) http://www.naturalnews.com/022658.html

b) http://www.livescience.com/environment/071213-warmest-years.html

c) http://weather.about.com/od/climatechange/a/HottestYears.htm

3. a) The source is Tom Mosakowski. The credentials that the the source has is that he has his B.S. in biochemistry. In my opinion the source is the source seems to be creditable because it gives a little information on the author and where to contact them but, also in the article it tells where they got there information from. The source says that the 11 warmest years on record have been in the last 13 years. Their prediction for the average global temperature for 2008 will be 67°F higher than 1961-1990 average 57.2°F. The last seven years (2001-2007) have been on average 79°F higher than 1961-1990 and 38°F higher than 1991-2000. The source says that this a trend of warming during the last few decades. The source says that the process of global warming does not make each year warmer than the year preceding, that decade to decade comparison is a more accurate way of measuring than year to year. Yes, I do believe the source because it tells where they got the information from and the author has an education in the environmental field.

b) The source is Dave Mosher. The credentials of the source is he has degrees in science and journalism. He is a web producer for Discovery Space, he works for the Discovery Channel. Before working for the discovery channel he joined Imaginova Corp. as a SPACE.Com and LiveScience.com staff writer. In my opinion the source is creditable because the source seems to have a good background as far as education goes and knowing what he is talking about. The source gives a list of the 10 hottest years 1998 – 0.94 degrees Fahrenheit above average, 2005 – 0.86 degrees Fahrenheit above average, 2003 – 0.83 degrees Fahrenheit above average, 2002 – 0.83 degrees Fahrenheit above average, 2004 – 0.77 degrees Fahrenheit above average, 2006– 0.76 degrees Fahrenheit above average, 2007 – 0.74 degrees Fahrenheit above average, 2001 – 0.72 degrees Fahrenheit above average, 1997 – 0.65 degrees Fahrenheit above average, 1995 – 0.5 degrees Fahrenheit above average. Out of these the earliest year is 1995, so if the source is right the 10 hottest years have been in the last 15 years. Yes, I do believe the source because he seems to have really good credentials.

c) The source is Rachelle Oblack. The credentials that the source has is she's a multi-award winning K-12 science teacher and writer. She was among the top 197 Educator Astronaut applicants in the country. She was invited to join the Network of Educator Astronaut Teachers. The source has a Bachelor of Arts in Education that concentrates on Natural and Biological Sciences from Wichita State University, Kansas. She also has a Masters Degree in Education. She is certified to teach earth and space science, general science, biology, environmental science K-12, chemistry, and physical science. I believe that the source is very creditable. The sorce says that each of the last nine years has earned a spot in the rankings of the 25 warmest years on record. The source gives a listing of the top 25, but these are the top 10 hottest years on the list. 1)1998 (55.09) degrees Fahrenheit, 2) 2006 (54.95) degrees Fahrenheit, 3) 1999 (54.61)degrees Fahrenheit, 4)1934 (54.54) degrees Fahrenheit, 5) 1921 (54.37) degrees Fahrenheit, 6) 1990 (54.37) degrees Fahrenheit, 7) 2001 (54.35) degrees Fahrenheit, 8) 2005 (54.28) degrees Fahrenheit, 9) 1931 (54.20) degrees Fahrenheit, 10) 1953 (54.10) degrees Fahrenheit. Yes I believe in the source because in my opinion it seems to be really creditable.

4. No, I do not believe the fact because if my second source is right the 10 hottest years have been in the last 15 years not the last 14.

Inconvenient Truth: Fact Check 1

1.What will the CO2 level be in the next 50 years compared to 2009.

2. a) http://www.uusalem.org/sermons-text/global-warming.htm
b) http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article2719627.ece
c) http://westinstenv.org/palbot/2008/12/17/pre-industrial-co2-levels-were-about-the-same-as-today/

3. a) The source is Phil Carver. The credentials that the source has is that the author is a director at Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Salem. In my opinion this source is not creditable because yes, it does tell you who the author is, but it doesn't give you background information on the author. The source says that several thousand of the earth’s scientists admit that CO2 concentrations today are 38 percent higher than they were for thousands of years before 1850 and that the climate has responded to greenhouse gases, both historically and for the last two ice ages, in precisely the ways predicted by computer models. I'm not exactly sure if I believe it or not because it doesn't give background information and it doesn't say where they got these sources from.

b) The source is Lewis Smith, an environment reporter from The Times. The credentials that this source is the author is an environment correspondent, environmental reporter, environment editor, science reporter at The Sunday Times. I think the source is creditable because it's The Times and I doubt that they would print something that is false or something that they haven't researched. The Source says that Carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere are increasing much faster and will be harder to control than scientists have predicted. An international team of researchers found that, since 2000, the rate at which CO2 has been pumped into the atmosphere is 35 percent greater than most climate change models have allowed for. There are serious implications that the world’s temperature will rise and that means global warming will be harder and more expensive to control. This also means that international efforts to bring CO2 emissions under control will need to be more far-reaching. Professor Nicholas Owens, of the British Antarctic Survey said that the findings were so worrying that they made previous widely accepted forecasts of climate change seem unduly optimistic. I do believe this source because it's recognized source.

c) The source is Dr. Tim Ball, from the Canada Free Press. The credentials that this source has is that the author is a renowned environmental consultant and former climatology professor at the University of Winnipeg. He employs his extensive background in climatology and other fields as an advisor to the International Climate Science Coalition, Friends of Science and the Frontier Centre for Public Policy. I think that this source is creditable because it gives you information about the author and it sites its sources in the article. The source says that proponents of human induced warming and climate change, and that an increase in CO2 precedes and causes temperature increases. Also that the late 20th century was the warmest on record, and global temperatures would increase through 2008 as CO2 increased. The arctic ice would continue to decrease through 2008, and that October of 2008 was the second warmest month on record. The current atmospheric levels of CO2 are the highest on record. The source said that all of these things are incorrect. The source also said that 1998 was the warmest year on record in the US, but it was 1934. The source says that the argument that humans are causing warming and climate change by increasing the levels of atmospheric CO2 and have throughout the Industrial era is wrong, and that the pre-industrial CO2 levels were about the same as today. I am not really sure if I believe the source or not because my own personal belief I think that global warming is real, but if the source really does have all these credentials then he should know what he's talking about.

4. No, I don't believe this fact because the three sources I checked my facts against in my opinion were not creditable enough for me. Why I say this is because my first source I count find any credentials that told me that he actually knew what he was talking about. My second source has good credentials, but I can not say that he knew what he was talking about because even though he is a environment reporter how am I suppose to know if he has been educated about the environment. My third source has good credentials, in my opinion the best credentials out of all three. So even though I don't necessarily believe what he is saying because of my own personal belief I'm going to agree with him because of his credentials.

Middle East Conflict

1. How Israeli got involved in the Arab-Israeli conflict is on Nov. 29, 1947, the UN agreed to divide Palestine into an Arab state and a Jewish state and to place Jerusalem under international control. The Jews in Palestine accepted this plan, but the Arabs rejected it. Fighting broke out immediately. The conflict has also involved a struggle by Palestinian Arabs to establish their own country in some or all of the land occupied by Israel.

2. The history of my country's involvement in the conflict from when it entered until now is the ancient Jewish kingdoms of Israel and Judea had been successively conquered and subjugated by several foreign empires, when in 135 CE the Roman Empire defeated the third revolt against its rule and consequently expelled the surviving Jews from Jerusalem and its surroundings, selling many of them into slavery. The Roman province was then renamed "Palestine". After the Arab conquest of Palestine in the 7th century the remaining inhabitants were mostly assimilated into Arab culture and Muslim religion, though Palestine retained Christian and Jewish minorities, the latter especially living in Jerusalem. Apart from two brief periods in which the Crusaders conquered and ruled Palestine and expelled the Jews and Muslims from Jerusalem, it was ruled by several Arab empires, and it became part of the Ottoman (Turkish) Empire in 1516. Israel has declared a formal end to its military rule of the Gaza strip. On 11 September 2005 the last 3,000 Israeli troops were pulled out. All 21 Jewish settlements in the Gaza Strip had been dismantled, and the Israelis who had set up home in the Gaza Strip since the 1967 war were evicted.

3. My enemies in the Middle East are Syria, Iran, Hezbollah, Lebanon,Palestine because of a power struggle over land.

4. Israel don't have friends in the Middle East because they are at war with everybody.

5.What my country wants out of the Arab-Israeli conflict is a security to live their lives like they have been doing for the last decade with an end to the attacks. Also they want to be recognised as a Jewish state. They want a Jewish national homeland on both sides of the Jordan River; the territory encompassing both the countries of Israel and Jordan today was originally designated for a Jewish state.

6.Israel is willing to sacrifice a large portion of its homeland to end the conflict. Also reopen border crossings into the Gaza Strip for humanitarian reasons. Also to give Palestinians 97% of the territories, the PA already controlled 40% of the territories, containing 97% of the Palestinian population of the territories, with the remaining few percent to be made up with land connected to the Gaza Strip. And give Palestinians military control of eastern Jerusalem and even parts of the Old City. Administrative control of the Temple Mount, which overlooks the Western Wall, was also offered. This despite that the Temple Mount is Judaism's holiest site, and despite the occurrences of rocks being thrown by Muslims from the Temple Mount at Jews praying at the Wall. Israel also offered to allow many Palestinian refugees to return to Israel through family reunification, as well as giving compensation to those refugees who couldn't return.

7.Israel is not willing to let their Middle East counterparts smuggle weapons to the terrorist group Hamas. Also Israel is not in any way renouncing its claims to the Land of Israel.

Reflection Post

1. I learned the cause behind Hitler's motives and I found a little insight on why Hitler was the way he was and why he did what he killed 11million people.
2. My research question was why did Hitler target the Jews during World War II.
3. The answer to my question was that because of the way he was treated as a child by his father and what he thought about the Jews during the time he spent in Vienna contributed to why he targeted the Jews.
4. Yes, my project did answer my question.
5. How my project answered my question is that I went form his childhood to his older life and focused in on the things that to me affected him the most.
6. I think that I got all the information that I needed and put it in a way that I think people would be interested in.
7. What I could improve on the project is the final look.
8. What I would change about what I did on the project is worked more on it; not harder because I think that I worked really hard on my project but used more time out of school to work on it.
9. What I would change about the project is just a little more time.
10. The grade that I would give myself is between a A- and a B- because I wanted to my newspaper more like a newspaper and I wanted to make it look older and age it.

1.Why did Hitler blame the Jews for Germany's problems.
2.A Newspaper with different sections that tell all the things that influenced Hitler's hatred towards Jews.
3.Because during WWII their were a lot of negative pictures about Jews and I think that, that played a role in how Hitler got other people to hate Jews just as much as he did.
4.If my newspaper is not finished it won't have the the last section called (Why did Hitler blame the Jews for Germany's problems)
5.Because each section will help you understand why Hitler felt the way he did about the Jews and at the end of the newspaper it will bring it all together answering my question.
6.Find information on my topic
Figure out my sections for my newspaper
Go through my information and figure out what information goes what section.
